Spin A Boss

Every fight begins with a spin.

In Spin A Boss, nothing is guaranteed.

You don't choose your hero.

You don't choose your weapon.

You don't choose your enemy.

Instead, you leave everything to fate.

Spin the wheel to determine your hero, weapon, and finally... the boss you'll have to defeat.

Every run is a gamble, forcing you to adapt to whatever combination luck throws your way.

Will fortune fight beside you—or against you?

About the Game

Spin A Boss is a boss-rush action game built around one simple idea:

Every battle starts with a roulette wheel.

Each spin randomly determines:

  • Your Hero
  • Your Weapon
  • Your Boss

Every combination creates a different challenge, encouraging experimentation and adaptability rather than relying on a single strategy.

WASD — Move

About This Build

Spin A Boss was developed entirely by one person in 7 days for the Juniper Devs Very Serious Game Jam.

This version is intended as a proof of concept for a much larger project. While several mechanics, animations, polish, and quality-of-life features had to be postponed in order to meet the jam deadline, the core gameplay loop is fully playable.

The Vision

The long-term goal is to transform Spin A Boss into a replayable boss-rush roguelite, where every run feels fresh through randomized gameplay.

Future plans include:

  • More playable heroes
  • A wider variety of unique weapons
  • Multiple bosses with distinct mechanics
  • Random boss abilities and attack patterns
  • Arena modifiers
  • Character progression and unlocks
  • Improved animations and visual polish
  • More content and replayability

This jam build is simply the first step toward that vision.

Feedback

If you enjoyed Spin A Boss—or even if you didn't—I would genuinely appreciate your feedback.

Whether it's a bug report, balancing suggestion, criticism, or simply your thoughts on the core concept, every comment helps me improve both this project and my future games.

If enough people enjoy the idea and the project gains traction, I'd love to continue development after the jam and completely overhaul the game into the full experience I originally envisioned.

Thank you for taking the time to play Spin A Boss. I hope you enjoy it.

       POST-DEADLINE UPDATES:

During the 24-hour bug-fix window, I fixed several issues present in the original submission, including slow-moving projectiles, collision bugs, animation issues, and various UI improvements. I also added simple game-over and victory screens to better communicate the end of a run and made a few balance and gameplay tweaks to improve the overall experience. My intention was to use this period for bug fixing and polishing while staying within the spirit of the jam rules.
